From 2006 to 2018, the rates of suicide in QLD have reached an all time high (increase 16%). This increase is thought to be caused by a lack of protective factors. These include safe and supportive community and work environments and supportive and stable relationships. Other factors such as connectedness to family, friends and community organisations and improving coping/problem-solving skills can help to protect against suicide.
There’s no doubt that having somebody to talk to when things are tough is a positive step to mental wellness. This is certainly relevant during times when isolation is more likely, when you’re facing challenges and during those intense life upheavals that we all experience now and then. If you’re feeling like you need someone to help you get through these situations, we can help guide you!
